Wedding Season in Torquay!

It’s that time of the year again, the summer has arrived and with it the Torquay Wedding season. Here at the Lincombe Hall Hotel we pride ourselves in making sure that our weddings are the very best that the English Riviera has to offer, in terms of personal service, food, and above all, venue. Our beautiful dining room is decorated to ensure that no matter what colour accessories the bride chooses it will look fabulous.

So many couples now are choosing to hold their Wedding Service at the hotel they have chosen for their reception, with this in mind, the Lincombe Hall applied for a wedding license to enable the ceremony to be held here at the hotel, this came into place at the end of last year and 2013 has seen the start of couples having the ceremony followed by the reception with us, both held in our beautiful dining room overlooking the pool and grounds.

Each Lincombe Hall Wedding is tailored individually to suit the bride and groom, we try our very best to accommodate your special requests, for example, our bride and groom last weekend, instead of a traditional buffet for their evening guests, opted for a Hog Roast here in the gardens, the weather was fine and the guests had a wonderful time.

Here at the Lincombe Hall in Torquay, we offer a very personal wedding service, meeting with the couple as often as they require to make sure they are happy with all the arrangements right up until the big day.  We know and care how important this day is to you.

So we say, ‘bring on the Wedding season’, we are looking forward to holding your wedding and making your day special!

Great Weekends in Torquay!

What a busy weekend on the English Riviera! We held a fabulous wedding here at the Lincombe Hall Hotel in Torquay on Saturday.  For the evening guests, instead of the usual buffet, we had our first ever Hog Roast in the grounds of the hotel, Andy from Hog Roast South West did an amazing job, and it proved a huge success with everyone and the weather stayed fine!

The weekend also saw the finals of the Miss England Competition, and for the first time ever it was held here in our very own Torquay at the International Riviera Conference Centre. The winner was Kirsty Heslewood a 24-year-old from Hertfordshire who won the crown from 59 others at a gala night at the Centre. The event was also streamed online around the world. Kirsty will now get a shot at the Miss World title which will be held in Indonesia. She also wins an all expenses paid trip to Mauritius. Lucky her!!

Great Restaurants in Torquay

Not only are there some fabulous award winning Hotels in Torquay but we are also home to some outstanding restaurants, in fact, far too many to visit in one holiday on the English Riviera. If you come down for a short break in Torquay why not try eating out at one of the many highly acclaimed restaurants.

If you like fish then No 7 Bistro is a must, a small family run Bistro style restaurant providing fresh fish and shellfish either from local boats and markets or Scotland, they are 5 minutes from the town centre on Beacon Terrace and well worth a visit.

If you are looking for fine dining then The Elephant is a two storey fine dining restaurant with the more informal brasserie on the ground floor and the Michelin starred, The Room on the first. The Elephant was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star. Run by head chef, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy, the restaurant overlooks the beautiful Torbay harbour, situated along side No 7 Bistro, on Beacon Terrace.

If you are looking to eat closer to the Lincombe Hall Hotel, then two lovely restaurants that spring to mind are The Orange Tree, just down the hill and left on Parkhill Road, and  The Old Vienna, just up the hill at the top of Lower Woodfield Road. Both within a 2 minute walk of the Lincombe Hall.

The owners of The Orange Tree Restaurant, husband and wife team Sharon and Bernd Wolf, use the very best of fresh seasonal produce to provide an imaginative and individual style, retaining the qualities of classical cuisine.  The Old Vienna, run by chef/proprietor Werner Rott, has been completely refurbished to a high standard with elements of traditional Austrian décor, with seating for just 20 diners, you will have to book!

So if you decide to take a holiday in Torquay why not come and stay with us at the Lincombe Hall Hotel, and go and try one of Torquays award winning restaurants.
