Spellbound

You will find magic in abundance this year, with the all-new show, SPELLBOUND.

The show promises you an explosion of exhilarating splendour, a cast to surpass the boundaries of talent, with comedy, illusion, song and dance to enthral.

The producer, Colin Matthews has bought together for your viewing pleasure, stars of stage, screen and the music industry to enable him to conjure up a cornucopia of entertainment.

Headlining is Phil Lowen who is in such demand it has taken the venue 9 years to get him to return since his last season in 2004, with Hooked On Laughter. Phil is one of the UK’s most successful comedy impressionists. His act is zany, energetic, very visual and always hilarious.

Joining Phil on stage, albeit he may have need of a stepladder, is the diminutive, Dean Winters. He will set you all in a spin with his big voice and cheeky humour, a genuinely funny and versatile performer.

Bewitching international, singing sensation, Keedie, is just as adept at interpreting a pop song, as she is the most opulent of arias. Listen to her sing and suddenly the ordinary becomes extraordinary! With, Babbacombe favourite, West End vocalist Paul Cobley also able to push boundaries with his vocal chords, expect to be whisked away, as their voices will ring together as one.

The British Magical Champion of Illusion is the shows special guest star. Daniel Dean has a natural flair to captivate you with his mastery for magic and illusion and there’s more… he can sing and make you laugh to, albeit “ not at the same time!” with his fine voice and personable patter.

Capturing the ambience of all that’s mystical is another stunning vocalist Stephanie Blackler. Winner of Torbay’s Got Talent and one of the headlining acts in last seasons 5 star hit show, West End Now, Stephanie will champion some superb show songs and win you over with her mesmerising stage presence.

It is no mystery as to why the vivacious, Danze Magique can charm an audience. Daring are the talents of resident choreographer, Georgia Lee, her skilful musical interpretation combines well with the exciting arrangements of Pete Leonard and the versatile dancers make light work of the routines that can literally suggest they are floating on air.

The real secret to magic lies in the performance, and collectively everybody involved in Spellbound, including the junior cast Trix, want to turn illusion into reality.

WEST END ENCORE!

The experience of live theatre will always be second to none….dim the lights, cue the music, & raise the curtain…and lose yourself in the phenomenon that is musical theatre!

Last year  we bought together an all-new production, which was solely based on London’s West End as it was then! The show generated amazing 5 star reviews across the board and week in and week out the show ended with the audience on their feet cheering for more with rapturous applause. Clearly this was a show that the people enjoyed and as the West End continues to offer great favourites combined with new shows, the Babbacombe Theatre are happy to bring you the Encore!

‘West End Encore’ will feature an eclectic mix of current hit musicals, many of them award winners and will include Singing In The Rain, The Bodyguard, A Chorus Line, Let It Be, We Will Rock You and West Side Story to name just a few! Colin Matthews, the theatre’s director has bought together another stunning cast of eleven, some are Babbacombe veterans others on the threshold of promising careers in musical theatre. Making a welcome return is Lily Laight, who performed in the original Matilda cast along with six of the Babbacombe Theatre’s original performers from last season. The venue is thrilled to have Wayne Champagne hosting and doing what he does best - Entertain You, along with Aaron Rahn, Lisa Walker, Atlanta and the Miller Brothers, Pat & Matt. Joining West End Encore this season will be three cast members from last seasons, hit show, Stardust, the much loved Eloise Cole and those cheeky chaps, Elmer & Sampson who definitely left a warm impression with the audiences. Last but by no means least sees the return of Geri Law, the lady with a voice of velvet. Previously she has topped the bill at Babbacombe Theatre when she appeared as part of the award-winning duo, Panache.

West End Encore is a musical journey that will leave you in awe as well as a little star struck by some of the greatest songs from the 20th & 21st century!
